There's been a couple pop up recently, but this is the first one that didn't have a start price of several hundred clams.

What exactly do they do that commands that kind of money?

They are one of the best studio reverbs known to man, with a MacOS graphical front end.

Considering that a classic reverb that's not a Nubus card can easily go for prices ranging from twice that to how-much-have-you-got?, they represent pretty good value for money these days. Some recording studios will keep a Quadra or two on line just to run a Nuverb, even to this day.

Yeah, if you find a Nuverb just buy it

I got extremely lucky and have 2 of them now with the TDM boards so it's digital in the chassis too and not have to deal with the AES in and out. They simply sound incredible and VERY programmable.

Sure you can get the LexiVerb TDM in software but it's NOT as good as the NUVERB or it's brother the Lexicon 300.

About three or four years ago I remember a time when there were three Nuverbs on eBay within a week. As often happens, this was when I had no spare money, really. I bid on a nice one for the most I calculated I could possibly inconvenience myself for. It sold for just a little more, about $200 US
