Just bought a Color Classic, no power

I just received my new color classic and plugged it in and no power, no led, no nothing. I pulled the MB and saw that the battery had been taken out. Will a CC boot with no battery at all? Could that be the problem? What else should I look at?

The pics on ebay showed the computer running with a nice bright screen.

I pulled the MB out and heard the fan come on when power turned on. So it's something on the MB I guess. I'm using a NeXT ADB keyboard and mouse. Do I have to have a Mac keyboard plugged in and use the keyboard power button? I also tried booting with no ADB device at all, same issue. I removed the RAM and VRAM but no change. I don't see a CUDA chip but then again I don't know what it looks like.

You do need to power it on with a mac keyboard power button.

That's how I got my CC on the cheap--the owner didn't know about the keyboard power button and assumed the machine was dead.

Got it running, it was the fact I was using a NeXT keyboard and the switch is wired different. I hooked up an Apple ADB keyboard, hit the power switch and Voila!

I like your video game screensaver(?) in the background.  What is it?

It's a RetroPie. Raspberry Pie with emulators for just about every retro system that ever was. Really inexpensive to build and fairly easy to learn the basics. The convenience of having almost every console game of the 70s, 80s and 90s in one unit is priceless!

The CC is from ebay. I picked it up for 203 bucks, a steal! It looks and works great. It has a whiney 350MB hard drive that I'll end up replacing with a SCSI2SD. I'm thinking of getting a Raspberry Pie Zero and configuring it to be a router so I can place it inside the CC and hook up to the network wireless. Anyone done that?
