Installing 10.3 from a Firewire drive?

I made an .iso backup along time ago of my 10.3 discs and made backup copies because I don't like using the original media. I want to install it on a partition of my Sawtooth, but it won't read any of the discs, so I tried Target Disk Mode from the eMac, no dice. I was wondering if it was possible to merge the 3 .iso files to a single .iso or .dmg, make a bootable partition on a Firewire drive, and install it that way?

I've always used Disk Utility's Restore image option to boot the OS X installer from either a partition or firewire drive. If only they made firewire flash drives, all my OS X (pre 10.5?) would be on flash drives.

Same here. It's much quicker to install. The problem was that Panther was shipped on 3 CDs, so the images needed to be merged, as I'm not sure how to switch the installer onto another HDD partition. Now just to figure out how to merge the 10.2 images (2 discs).
