Houdini II card - no cable

I'm trying to get one of these cards working, but it didn't come with a cable. I wired up a VGA jack to the card based on the pinouts here:

I have sense lines 1 and 2 tied together to identify a VGA/SVGA monitor.

Is a connection between the PM6100 video and the DOS card required if I just want to see DOS video on a second monitor?

The control panel runs, but the RAM section is greyed out, so I assume it doesn't like the DIMM (I've tried several). Would this prevent video output?

In the control panel, when switching to DOS, the Mac display dims about halfway and switching back with CMD-enter returns it to full brightness.

It reports that the DOS card is running.

Thanks for any help.

If I’m remembering correctly, the RAM section being grayed out in the control panel is because it likes the RAM that is installed in the card. If it didn’t detect any RAM installed on card, that grayed out selection would allow you to specify how much of the Mac’s memory you would like to share with the DOS card.
