I have a Mac Plus -- I have 3 working/booting floppies, one disk tools disk, one pre-6 disc & macpascal disk with system 5.. I have additionally a 30Mb external scsi, & zip drive with 2 zip disks.
I tried formatting the 30mb NON-Apple ROM scsi as a Macintosh Volume with my NeXT computer (only machine I have with a scsi interface other than the mac). It formats it fine, I can copy files to the drive. recognizes on the NeXT as a mac volume, but Mac Plus with disk tools doesn't mount the drive.
I tried making a system bootable 7 image on my macbook pro with Basilisk emulator, then transfer to the NeXT and copy the image to the HD, which also works, the NeXT sees all the system files and everything on the drive, Mac Plus still doesn't care. Doesn't see it.
I think there is some kind of Apple SCSI driver which is probably not added to the drive boot sector when I use the NeXT to format the disc. Anyhow, I tried also formatting zip drives, the mac plus locks up when i boot it with a zip disk formatted with the NeXT in the drive. it boots normally if there is no zip disk in, but still it will not mount the disk.
I have all the software in the world in files and so on, on my modern mac.. but I have no freaking way of making a floppy or moving any data to the plus. I would like to even be able to probe the scsi bus to see - but stupid Apple HD setup only checks on apple rom'd drives so it doesnt help a bit. I am at wit's end..
maybe if someone could create a disk image of a HD or zip on which there are the proper drivers, I imagine if they created a dd image or something of the scsi drive and then I could write it out to my zip drive or HD maybe the mac would recognize it? I don't know what to do. I wish now I didn't throw out my old powerbooks and other beige equipment that had a superdrive.
HELP!!!
What can I do? a thousand thanks
