Formating SD card on PowerBook 1400c

Hi All, bought an SD connector for my PowerBook 1400c, inserted 2 gig SD card. Computer only
recognizes 32 MB and then fails to initialize. I want to set this up as my Hard Drive I only have a
1 gig drive and need at least 2. So how do I go about formatting the SD card and getting the Mac
to recognize it. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you,

That's the same adapter I have used in two 1400s without any issue. It. should work fine. I assume that the HD was working fine in it before, so I will also assume that there is no hardware IDE issue, either. My guess would have to do with the SD card itself, as it is one of those micro-adapter deals.

How is it that you are trying to format the card? What are you using? Are you starting the machine from the system software CD or something?

Same adapter I've used in my 3400. My guess would also be the microSD adapter/card, I've had bad luck with those adapters not quite working properly before.

Hey, thanks so much, I notice the SD card holder I was using was empty! This was after I switched to a CF card and adapter,
which is now working fine.
Much appreciate the the help.

I put an CF-to-IDE adapter for Amigas in my 1400, used a CF-to-PCMCIA adapter kit for BMW cars from .
First time doing so, I only used IDE-to-mSata adapters in PBs so far, but these are not working properly, I guess its the then new IDE implementation that's too advanced with mSata for that old buddy.
The only downside so far is under OS 8 and 9 disk utility is not able to address/ repartition single partitions of the card, only sees the whole card.
First aid can control/ repair it though.
