Download .SEA to windows 7, transfer to 1.44mb, use on 68k?

I'm sure this has been covered 100x before but I can't find any clear threads - maybe somebody else has a link handy?

I use a Windows 7 desktop as my daily

I bought a USB 1.44mb floppy drive

I use HFVExplorer to read / copy to / from 1.44mb floppy:

http://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/hfvexplorer

And I can read / write no problem so far.

But when I download stuff on Windows 7 it screws up the binary

and when i put on the HFS floppy and put on my 68k machines it no longer works

I am specifically trying to move over Presto Plus drivers to my Mac LC

Any help greatly appreciated!

Another candidate for networking.

At the present, you have five options:

1) Use a Linux box as a Netatalk server, and then use an AFP bridge between that box and the LC.

2) Use a old PC box to run Windows 2000 or 2003 Server. Install SFM and use the AFP bridge.

3) Use Pseudo-PPP dialup, but you'll need a Mac or Linux machine. Or, a VM. I don't know of any way that native Windows allows port forwarding from Ethernet/WiFi to a serial COM port.

4) Use a terminal based file transfer.

5) Rig up Basilisk II or SheepShaver to network out to the LC.

Compared to physical media, networking is like eating warm, properly cooked, home made cookies with milk. Floppy disks are like eating old British Navy "hard tack" "food". It can be done but the difference is polarizing.

But to answer your question, the .sea archive is not ruined. Merely, the type and creator data is lost. Use ResEdit in System 7+ or Finder Info 1.1.1 in System 4.1+ to change the type to "APPL" and the creator to "aust". Stuffit archives don't have resource forks, or not enough to make them damaged by foreign file systems.

Have a read at the second link in my signature. The More Info page has a section on Data Encoding Techniques.

LOL! What a line, and I am compelled.

Unfortunately I don't think Win7 is going to be happy with that configuration and the network card is the Presto Plus Accelerator that needs the drivers installed in the first place.

Regarding ResEdit - brilliant idea, will report back and thank you!

FWIW, The type and creator can also be edited using HFVExplorer! That is how I mostly transfer mac files on Windows 7.

I found when you move stuff back to the Mac just open StuffIt or drop the file on it and it repairs the fork.

I use windows 7 home and use a memory stick or USB floppy to put it on my imac G3 or color classic.

I just read that elsewhere too sounds like a confirmed work around - I'm going to try this and the HFV trick - thanks gents -
