Can anyone hook me up with a "known good" Mac OS 6.0.8 image that definitely boots a Mac Portable from a ZuluSCSI?

Hi all!

I've used various SCS2SD devices over the years and had good success with them, including on my backlit Portable. I'm now trying to use a new "SillyTinySCSI" ZuluSCSI dongle for the first time, and I'm so close to getting it working but haven't quite gotten over the line. As of now, every attempt to boot "full install" System 6.0.8 images from the ZuluSCSI gets all the way to the menu bar and desktop background onscreen, but then the mouse turns into a spinning watch for ~5 minutes before the machine freezes entirely. I should note that the dongle is powered externally. Interestingly, System 7.5.5 seems to boot okay - it's just 6.0.8 that keeps choking over and over.

If anyone has a known-good "full install" image with 6.0.8 that you know for sure works with a Mac Portable, I'd be super grateful for a copy - I'm just trying to figure out if I'm somehow breaking *all* of the images I've created...

Thanks!

PS Another thought: are there any Mac Portable-specific settings in the zuluscsi.ini file that I should be checking?

Yes. Check out the BlueSCSI documentation. The Portable has quirks like the Plus does.

Oof - I stayed up way too late poking around in the ZuluSCSI docs / forum, but somehow missed this bit. Thank you for pointing this out! I'll definitely try changing the INI file to include "System=MacPlus" when I get back to playing with it later.

And if you want to double check your install images, 6.0.8 is still available from Apple

1.4M version

800k version
Fair point - up till now I've just been trying to use the pre-built hard disk images from Savage Taylor, but maybe I should be trying to roll my own...
