Bourns Filters for SE/30 - where to buy?

Farnell UK has them:

http://uk.farnell.com/bourns/4120r-601-250-201l/filter-t-network-200pf-25r/dp/9356010'>http://uk.farnell.com/bourns/4120r-601-250-201l/filter-t-network-200pf-25r/dp/9356010

But RS Components UK is a tad cheaper on quantities of 5, although not by much:

These chips are freaking expensive! I didn't find anything on EBAY either.

Sorry, I did a bad copy/paste on the RS UK link above. Here's the correct link (which shows a discount for 5 pcs):

http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/rc-network/6909903/

All are searches for part number: 4120R-601-250/201L

Problem is that both Farnell UK and RS Components UK require you to register with a UK address. And the US branch of RS doesn't list the Bourns filter:

Ack!

Here's a zoomable hi-rez photo of on of my recapped logic boards:

The 3 Bourns filters are shown at right in that photo (RP2, RP3 and RP10).

For future reference, octopart.com is a great search engine for finding who has what in stock and at what price.

Thanks, Bunsen. Here's the quicklink search for the Bourns network filter on that site:

But alas, it only lists what I already listed earlier in this thread.

It seems the only place to buy outside the UK is from Newark. But dad burn it, that $20 handling fee is simple outrageous if you're only wanted to order $25 worth of chips! Not to mention shipping fees are on top of that. Ack!

Since there are so few "knights" of tech out there, I was just thinking of buying 6pcs or so and sending them all to you. Who else among us would put them to such good use as you? If there is anyone, of course, please speak up now.

I don't mind paying $4-$5 per chip plus a reasonable amount in shipping. But a $20 "handling fee" for no good reason (Newark) is a rip-off!

Well thats if you order from newark, that $20 fee is for them to order from farnell and have them shipped to their warehouse. Then from there, shipped to the destination.

i wonder if you can order from farnell directly? to avoid that fee? I doubt it but its worth a shot.

Oh when it comes to those filters, you can test if they are bad by doing this one SIMPLE step:

if there is any continuity between the ground point which would be 10,11 and 1,20 of the filter, to any other pin, its bad. Especially if its low ohms from pin to pin.

Speaking of knight of tech, I gotta finish up rebuilding a plasma TV Y-sustain module. I really hate those TVs. with a passion, especially when they decide to blow out. When they blow, they blow... take out nearly every power transistor in the ER and Y-SUS output stages. yuck.

Sadly no. As I mentioned in a previous post in this thread, ordering direct from Farnell requires one to ship to a UK address. I do have a friend in the UK, but once you pay the friend to take a trek to the post office and pay the international shipping fee, you're out the same as that outlandish $20 Newark fee.

Too bad they don't carry them at Radio Shack! :)

I think I bought some of those from DFSales a year or two ago. I don't remember what I paid though. I thought their price was reasonable, but that's all the memory I have. Sigh. Leaky brain. I know I didn't pay more than $2 each at the time, as more than that would be notable even for my terrible memory.

Trag, goes that mean you still have a stash of Bourns filters that you would be willing to sell at a reasonable price?

I think I do, but I can't seem to find them. I thought they were still in my room, in my box of active (most used) parts, but I couldn't find them in there. I checked my attic inventory listing, but they're definitely not in there. I remember getting them, but I can't remember what I did with the tube after I took it out of the box. It may be hiding on my work bench. That's harder to explore.

I also went through my mound of old receipts and didn't see one, but that doesn't mean anything as that gets sorted every year. I can't access my older emails (on-line invoice) because my primary machine died a while back. I have backups and such, but haven't had time to fix the machine and bring it back up. The laptop and web based email has been keeping me going the last six months.

SEthirty, bless you, friend!

And although it would be wrong to use "samples" on a continual basis, fact is that none of us have tried that specific part number first-hand (not to my knowledge), and so we would need a few samples to test. Why pay $20 to Newark for something that may or may not work perfectly? Then once you have tested the samples and verified they work, then of course ethics would compel one to make a purchase for additional parts.

I think with samples though, there is a limit. you can only sample so many of one part. like 2 or 3. I could be wrong with bourns, but its like that with maxim.
