Best games for my Mac?

Hi! I'm wondering what the best games are for a Performa 475 with its origianl 68LC040, no FPU, running at original speed, 256 colour monitor, 4mb of RAM, and no hard disk? Of course, bear in mind that, once I've loaded the RAM disk, I've only get about 900K of RAM left, but if there's anything that will fit on my boot floppy, then that's fine. Any suggestions?

The genres I'm interested in: maze, platform, scrolling, simulator, puzzle (sometimes)... basically anything except shooter and space. (BTW, I recently downloaded Glider, for an example of what I like).

Scarab of Ra should fit on your boot floppy.

Really, you should consider repairing your hard drive and upgrading to even 8 or 12MB of RAM, if you want to keep the machine at a level where a typical owner would have had it in its day.

Then you could fit a lot more games. :)

I spent HOURS with Warlords, Spectre VR, Barney Blaster, Sim City 2000, and this other game I can never remember the name of. You manned a "C"-shaped ship that sat atop a wireframe tunnel as these creepy-crawlies came toward you, and you had to blast them before they made it to the top to get you. In later levels, sections of the wireframe disappeared and you'd blow up if you hit the gaps. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

No space shooters huh? Tough one, thats like my fave-o genre.

Hmmmm lets see. Maybe I can help with platformers?

I really liked "Gold Digger"!! Pretty sure its free/shareware. It will fit on a floppy too!

"A day at work" is kinda cool, but really just degrades into violence pretty quick.

"Super Maze Wars!" A shooter, and not technically maze anything, but I killed K's of hours on that.

ARASHI, it's in my list. :D It's a Tempest arcade clone.

Oh, I forgot about Super Maze Wars. Another great AppleTalk networkable game (the first, I think.) Don't forget their other great game, Spin Doctor. An excellent and very fun puzzle game.

Short Circuit is also another great puzzle game.

I didn't know they did Spin Doctor too! Thats awesome.

Both super maze wars and spin doctor were regular favourites when I commandeered my dad's Powerbook 5300c back in the day.

I spent many hours playing Full Throttle and the Space Quest series. Strategic Conquest from Delta Tao is also another fun strategic game.

On my old P475, I actually ran Arkanoid 1.1 on it. Set the video to B&W, and made sure that the computer booted in 24-bit mode. Think I was running System 7.1 or maybe 7.5 or 7.5.1 on the machine. Been 11 years since I owned it.

But, yes, get a hard drive and some more RAM. They aren't *that* expensive to source, even on evilBay.

I'm a HUGE fan of world builder games and have considered making some new ones! They're all black and white, some have sounds (which don't seem to work under PPC).

Ray Dunakin is something of a giant in the genre, and all his works are shareware and available at his site. Also of value is the game Radical Castle, not sure where you would find that now though.

Just got "The Even More Incredible Machine". I love these physics games, and I've always wanted my own (they're always online, so you have to be online when you're playing). Well now I've got one for my Mac :) :beige: :b&w: !!!

No space or shooters.

-Space: I beleive that aliens are demonic beings (let's not discuss religion), so I don't like making fun about them.

-Shooter: I want to play with my Mac, not fight against it!
