Ooo, this is very interesting as I've recently acquired a 128k and am similarly wondering what to do with it. I don't want to modify it as it's a very good condition original example.Hi all - I've decided to have a very modest crack at blogging. I'm attempting to use my 128k for constructive work, and I figured writing about the process might be fun. 128k.site has it. I'm still working out how to WordPress, so bear with me.
Identical to my first Mac back in 89. I love the setup too, looks period accurate kinda!Another drive to Sydney over the weekend. This time for this *immaculate* platinum Plus, in its box, with accessories, manuals, and external floppy drive. There are even two yellow plastic disk head protection inserts! Warms the cockles of my heart because this is exactly the computer I had when I was a kid.

Ah. Sounds like ROM and RAM issues:A new 128k! Virtually perfect case, keyboard and numeric keypad, external 400k drive and mouse. Original Macintosh with red battery compartment interior, but boots to this:

Any ideas? Pina has this symptom but for a 512k. Haven’t opened the case yet — it may have been upgraded.

That cable doesn't look stock? It looks more like a grey phone handset cord to me, but I could be wrong! Also, the most perfect keyboard cable ever:
The 512k and 128k are identical except for the amount of RAM, so the treatment is the same.Any ideas? Pina has this symptom but for a 512k. Haven’t opened the case yet — it may have been upgraded.

It does match quite well nevertheless, and if it's working, I wouldn't change it unless you want it to look 100% original.

Thanks olePigeon — haven’t opened her up yet, but I’ll get to it over the Christmas break. Fingers crossed. If you look at the motherboard and see the Apple MT 4264s, they like to go bad. It's really, really common. Could be an easy fix.
I'd love to get an early 128k with the purple ceramic & gold RAM chips. They look gorgeous. I love purple and white ceramic chips.
