Hi,
I've had my 17" Studio Display for about 3 months now (I got it for free from a University that was clearing out their older hardware). From the beginning, it would occasionally click softly, expand (the width and height of the picture), then contract to it's normal size. Two days ago, I left the monitor on for almost the entire day (I had a lot of graphics work to do on my computer). At the end of the day, it repeatedly did that clicking problem, except the click was much louder (like an electric shock), the picture expanded quite a bit more, and the picture darkened temporarily. I unplugged it, and turned it back on this afternoon with no problems. About an hour ago, the same thing happened except it was even worse. The picture grew so dark that it was almost completely black. I unplugged it, then plugged it back in. I heard the hum of the monitor starting up, but nothing. I pressed the power button, still nothing. The monitor only turned on again after I had unplugged it again and plugged it back in. It is off right now. It seems as though some sort of power failure is going on. Is it cheaper to repair it, or simply buy a new one? (I love the color quality on this monitor, so I want to have one). Thanks in advance for your help.
