Apple IIe Card - What would you put it in?

I have an Apple IIe Card on the way, complete in box with install disks and that elusive Y Cable.  I'm trying to figure out which Mac to use it on, and I think I've figured it out but need a sounding board.

I have an LC 575, a Mac TV (pretty sure no PDS slot - damn!), a Color Classic, and a Quadra 605.  I also have a Power Macintosh Processor Upgrade Card too, so what I'm thinking is:

 - Apple IIe Card in the 575

 - Processor Upgrade Card in the Q605

What would you do?  I'd ideally love to have both installed in the one machine, but zero chance of that!

I'd love to use the Color Classic, but I think the screen size is just too small, and the 575 would look great with that large Trinitron screen.

Depends on how where you will use it I reckon - if the 575 has it's own spot I'd use that, otherwise the Q605 is perfect for carting around even to plug into a TV (new TV with VGA) for that authentic Apple II experience.

I've had my IIe card in a Q605, and currently have it in a Color Classic.

I like it there since it's a more "contained" solution; especially if I don't need the external IIe drive, I can just fire it up and go.

It looks and runs great there, and it also works well in the Quadra, so I'd say put it where it makes the most sense to you.

I never seen an Apple IIe card run in a Color Classic, I can imagine how cute it is.

I have seen it (and used to run it) in LCs. The LC 575 is the better of the two choices for the large screen and everything being built in. But it's on you which you decide to put in it.

I used to have mine in an LCIII but it now happily resides in a Colour Classic- personally I find the LC575 just too ugly..

Been chasing one for a while, and Ian fell off the face of the earth, so I sucked it up and bought it.  I don't think I'll regret it, as it has everything I need to party down.

Looks like a good buy for that price.  I didn't realise people want that much money for one nowadays.

Funny thing is that they are packaged in Australia- I wonder if there a a couple lost cartons of them lying around in a warehouse here somewhere?

I've seen the cable selling for near that, so I couldn't pass this up.

How do you know that they were packaged here?

I seem to recall those cards coming in a rather generic brown box similar to what Apple used for packaging circa 1992-1993. The early ones may have been in a white and red box like most 1989-1991 stuff.

As for what machine to put it in, I'm going to go with the Color Classic. I had one in a CC at one time. Assuming your CC is stock, I'd use the least powerful card in that one, and that would be your IIe card. Save the more powerful machines for accelerators, Ethernet, and video stuff.

Another perk--that weird 512x384 resolution on your CC's display is a carryover from the 12" LC monitor. This was designed to convert easily to the IIe's resolution.

I think you might be right.  The hard drive on the CC (actually, it's a Performa 250, but same same) is a basic install of System 7, so this would be perfect to partition with PRODOS.  Hmmm, I think this will be a lot of fun!

I bought a few of them from the US 10 years ago and this is the box they came in...

Yep, that appears to be the newer box.  Mine is white and Made in Singapore.  Nothing about Australia on it.

Looking forward to installing in the Colour Classic tonight.  The box is complete, but it doesn't seem to have the insert which was disappointing.

Mine is the brown box.  Is the white box the earlier one?

Yep.  My SE is in a white box, as were the Plus, etc.  The newer stuff came in brown boxes, like my Quadra 700 and PM6100.

My manual is 1991, and one online is 1992, so I think that narrows it down.
