Apple (Bandai) Pippin ROM dump

I'm a big fan of the Pippin - the Apple/bandai console - and i have installed an hard disk on my console. And with Mac OS on a CD, i have dumped the ROM (version 1.3) from the console.

Now, i want to analyse the content... but i have no idea how to do that.

Actually, it's interessant for a thing : this ROM accept homebrew. With classic ROM (1.0 and 1.2), there is a protection : the console can only boot CD with an authentification file (made by Apple). With the ROM 1.3, there is no protection : it's possible to boot a CD without the file, and it's work.

The file : http://down.dandu.be/ROM13

I'm not sure that the dump is OK : on the web, i have found the dev. ROM dump and the ROM 1.0 dump, and the two ROM are 4 MB files. My ROM is only 3 MB files. For the dump, i use GetROM from Basilisk project. Is there another way to dump the ROM from Mac OS ?

Thank you!!! Do you have a 1.3 Pippin? Is it an atMARK console or a KMP 2000?

Do you think you could make a second dump using a different tool? Try using the ROM dumper from MacRelix: http://www.macrelix.org/pub/MacRelix-ROM-copier.mbin It should read past 3MB to get a complete image. (That's a MacBinary file, so you'll have to decode it using either MacBinary or I think a recent version of Stuffit Expander)

I have a white Atmark version (japanese), but i have "found" a 1.3 ROM and i have a 8 MB RAM card and a ADB adapter.

And i have replaced the CD drive with a 12x reader, and add a SCSI connector for an old hard drive.

I try the software tomorrow, actually it's complicated to transfer files on the hard drive, because i use an old Power Mac G3 to connect the hard drive, my USB/SCSI adapter will not mount the HDD on Mac OS X. Actually, i boot the console with a CD (a Mac OS ISO found on the web), bu i suppose i can boo directly from the hard drive.

And i have found a MO230 drive (internal), but there is a problem with my media. I'm waiting for a second...

Once again, thank you Dandu. The other Pippin ROM images floating out there were most likely also dumped with old tools, so they too ought to be redumped with the MacRelix software for posterity, but your 1.3 ROM is probably the most valuable.

Anybody have any ideas on how to verify this image's integrity?

I think i can dump the 1.2 ROM, but i'm not sure.

With Pease and my Apple Talk network, i suppose i can launch the tool and save the ROM (but it's very slow with Apple Talk)
