That's very cool! I know that feeling and it does feel like Christmas morning. I booted up a "non-working" 1600c to find that not only does it work but it was also a G3. I haven't heard of that particular maker before. There was great 3rd party innovation then...and accessible computers
Very cool, I've lucked out twice with unexpected accelerators. Another win was an eBay SE that had no indication of an accelerator in the ad, however the seller posted a pic of the boot screen with the Radius 25mhz startup graphic in the corner. Fortunately the accelerator was in the machine when it showed up.
Did your dual 800k machine have an internal HD as well? The one I picked up had dual 800k drives and an aftermarket 170mb HD. It would seem odd to add an accelerator without adding a HD as well.
It's indeed a nice bonus to find a hidden accelerator!
My Performa 600CD came with a Sonnet 040 accelerator, which made the 30 euro price for it all the more a steal
I've gotten lucky a few times from eBay. My iici has a Daystar 50MHz 68030 card and my Powermac 7500/100 a XLR8 G3 upgrade. I also managed to snag a DLSD 17" from a lot of powerbooks that showed up in nearly flawless condition with a still functional battery. Each time felt like I stole something.
