A/UX 3.0 install fail...

I was really hoping to get A/UX installed on my IIci, I have an external Apple CD 300, so I thought I would be good, but my luck, the A/UX install cant find my CD-ROM. Whats the secret? Do I keep trying random CDROMs, maybe an earlier single speed Apple CDROM? I heard there is a specific Toshiba model that works? Or is it as simply as setting the SCSI ID to something different.

I'm so close to getting this installed...

The CD300 should work. You've tested it and the burned cd on another machine?

My external 300 doesn't play well with cd-rw disks, only cd-r. What type of disk are you using?

Im using a CD-R burn. The A/UX image is one I found at MacintoshGarden. As for the CD300, I've used it many times with other Macs and have done other installs, etc.,.

The A/UX installer doesn't even attempt to read, no LED activity at all on the CD-ROM, almost like the driver cant find an attached CD-ROM device, which is bizarre since its an Apple CD300. So maybe its a bad burned CD, but I would think I would at least see some drive activity if the CD was bad.

You have to boot from floppy that accompanies the CD. CD is not bootable by itself. You need to have CDROM connected and CD loaded while booting from the floppy, the installer will start automatically from CD

Also, for a CD300 (or any old double speed or slower CD-ROM drive,) you'll want to make sure you burn the CD-R at the slowest speed your CD burner allows.
