4.5V Battery Replacement for Early Compact Macs?

Funny enough, the longest "lasting" (not in charge, but in not leaking) Alkalines that I've had over the years have never been from the most known brands. The Duracells and Energizers all blow, but the random "New Leader" battery still remains intact.
Same here, must be related to their chemical composition. The one I used is a VARTA which I've never seen leak.

😬 I hope their Alkaline batteries hold up better than their NiCad and NiMH cells do...
To be fair, their Lithium cells seem to be pretty darn good.
Maybe I should replace it now? Wouldn't want it to leak like the original battery did.

If you're worried about a leak, I'd just leave the battery out altogether. a VARTA Alkaline battery is probably no more likely to leak than any other brand. Best practice is to remove it entirely or check on a regular basis.
