SE/30 desktop testing board and compact SE/30

This is a project that I'm very much involved it since November last year together with @WillJac and @jajan547 . Basically it's a remix of the already excellent RGB2HDMI and an ATX adapter for the SE/30. (with permission from Ian, it will be an official product in the end) :

The basic idea was to build a compact SE/30 but also to make simple bench testing tool when troubleshooting an SE or SE/30 board. Plug in ATX power and hdmi to the Pi Zero and you can run the whole machine

I'll let @WillJac speak about the case because that it almost exclusively his work. The plan is to make the stl files for the case downloadable and sell the cards. But the cards can of course be used by themselves. On VCF Midwest we will show some working prototypes. For super early adopters you can send me a PM since I have some surplus boards in various design stages.

Going to make a case version with no FloppyEMU and put mounts for a real floppy drive. Not sure on a spinner HD at this time as that means adding the power cord to power it to the picoatx.

Just got my Compact SE/30 board today and have been using it to sort through a pile of SE/30 logic boards - super easy to use and nice not to have to take up valuable bench space with a full chassis just to see video output. WillJac has been super helpful with support on resolving some prototype issues. Get one!

Just found this thread while looking for something else and had to post. I bought a version 1.7 board from @WillJac’s Ko-fi shop earlier this year. It has been the most useful tool I have bought in a long time and a huge help as I work through a bunch of unhappy SE/30 logic boards. It’s been in use almost every weekend since.

I’ve written this elsewhere but it is worth re-iterating: the on/off switch for the logic board power on the board is a real genius idea. The RGB2HDMI stays powered up so you don’t miss any of the start-up video process and it isn’t overlayed by the RGB2HDMI start-up menu.

Just found this thread while looking for something else and had to post. I bought a version 1.7 board from @WillJac’s Ko-fi shop earlier this year. It has been the most useful tool I have bought in a long time and a huge help as I work through a bunch of unhappy SE/30 logic boards. It’s been in use almost every weekend since.

I’ve written this elsewhere but it is worth re-iterating: the on/off switch for the logic board power on the board is a real genius idea. The RGB2HDMI stays powered up so you don’t miss any of the start-up video process and it isn’t overlayed by the RGB2HDMI start-up menu.

Heh, I think that was an indirect contribution of mine

Jockelill sent me one of the original prototypes and I promptly hacked in a USB port (monitor power) and the Pico off the 5Vsb, then I added a desk-switch so I can power it on and off at will. It's an essential piece of my testbench and much kinder than power cycling an original machine constantly.

Thank you for the support post. It is a great tool and I use this all the time. It has been long time that I have used a full case to test. The switch and USB add on where contributions by @zigzagjoe as state in his post and improved the item significantly. I will add more to the store after I return home Sept 10 and will order the items. I might add the new audio option add on for infecting audio into the hdmi stream.
