As I’m working on an SE/30 reloaded board, a few questions have arisen, If anyone would like to offer any knowledge or advice, I’d appreciate it.
] U32 Crystal Oscillator (see pic) appears to be polarized based on the silkscreen on the board? As I was cleaning the parts, the writing on the top of mine was washed away (yes dumb). If it is polarized, is there a way for me to test it? Could anything be damaged if it was installed backwards?
] What the heck is 321 L2 (see pic)? Does it need to be installed in a particular way as there is no indication on the part.
] I have a socket for the CPU. Is the consensus that using a socket for the 68030 is a good or bad idea? Someone mentioned in a video that NOS chips may have difficulty making good contact with socket and therefore recommended soldering directly to the board.
] As I removed the floppy port from the old SE/30, some of the pins were damaged. I can repair them but I noticed that the pins had something that looked like tiny resistors built in? Am I dreaming?
] My GLUE chip may or may not be working as it was somewhat corroded on the battery bombed board. I cleaned it and the pins look ok under the microscope. Is there any way to test it before I install it?
