  1. Thanks for the responses! I'll be disassembling over the next couple days, see what's what, will probably post a topic in the classic section.
  2. Hey everyone! Been a long time since I've found myself with anything interesting, been out of the classic mac game for a minute. Found myself a tidy little SE FD/HD with keyboard, mouse, and telecom adapter at a flea market. Got it home, it boots up but only boots to the screen you see with the cursor, and after about 30 seconds, the screen starts to dim on its own before finally going completely dark. Would like to restore it, as it's in pretty good shape - only missing one foot, no cracks in the case, not too yellowed and only a tiny serial number etching in the top of the case.

  4. My dualie once basically barfed into it's speaker once. I nearly fell off my chair. It was this LOUD digital buzz and squeal. i used to have an old gateway laptop that would do that often.
  5. you will need the cd rom drive for the hardware test. does anything come up on the screen when you turn it on?
  6. did you run a hardware test? i wouldn't be too worried about no chiming. my sawtooth g4 has been doing that for a long time with no ill side effects.
  7. get a 3400. 5300's weren't the best ones ever.
  8. well, at least you don't have Microsoft Windows Vista: Cold Edition. I just can't wait till i get Cold 7!
  9. It has been sitting on a shelf for a while, since money is short. It will be fixed one day though.
  10. don't spend a ridiculous amount of money to get the one working; set a cash limit and stick to it. if it doesn't work out, then sell them for parts.
  11. here's another one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200277236814&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX
