7.6.1 on a PM 6100 - startup problem
Dimitris1980 replied to Beavix's topic in NuBus Power Mac, LC & Performa
Well, it worked. Yesterday night before I turn off the computer, i erased the partition 1 and changed it from extended to standard. I installed again the international version of Mac OS 7.6 (the cd contains various languages and i installed the international English one). Now it boots normally and i installed also the Sonnet G3 drivers with success. So, the steps i did: I initialized the hard drive and created three partitions with disk setup 1.7.3: one standard and two extended. I installed firstly Mac OS 8.1 in partition 2 in order to be able to boot from hard drive and to b -

Yesterday evening finally i initialized my hard drive. Again 3 partitions but this time i made all of them extended. I used the drive setup 1.7.3 version. Can Mac OS 7.6.1 be installed in extended format drive? The other times i had the one partition standard and the other two partitions extended. I installed Mac OS 8.1 in partition 2 and runs with success. In partition 1 i tried a cd international Mac OS 7.6 from macintoshgarden and also system 7.5 version for Powermac 6100 but with booting a msg came on screen saying that i have to update my disk. -

It boots normally with the extensions off pressing the shift key. But i don't remember which version of drive setup i used to initialize my hard drive. For a year it was working perfectly until yesterday where my computer stuck with Pirates Gold (which was running just fine every time i was trying it, it's the first time this happened). Then i reset the computer and i couldn't boot with Mac OS 7.6.1. -

Back again for this. As i have read in internet, i assume that this problem is common. My Mac is the following: Performa 6116CD Sonnet G3 500 Mhz installed 136mb ram 73gb hard drive Apple 4x scsi cd Apple 8100 video card 4mb For years i had the same problem. I couldn't find a solution. I have 3 partitions on my hard drive: one for Mac OS 8.1, one for Mac OS 9 and for the remaining i want to have the 7.6 because it is really fast and some games (Gobliiins 1, Gobliiins 3, Lost in Time) run only with this version. Last year (after long time) i mana -
I agree. Years before i had a typical Philips VGA 14 inches monitor connected with my Mac Performa 6116CD. I started looking for an Apple Monitor and my first choice was the Apple Audiovision 14 Display monitor but it was difficulty to be found and usually very expensive. Finally i bought a Macintosh Color Display Monitor M1212 and i can say that the quality is fantastic. It has great sharp picture and all games look great. My dos computer is connected with a nice Sony 15" trinitron monitor and it is next to my Macintosh Color Display Monitor. I can say that Mac graphics which use usually bigg

Dimitris1980 replied to Dimitris1980's topic in G3/G4/G5 Power Mac, iMac & eMac
My computer is a Power Macintosh G3 Minitower (300 mhz, 768mb ram, 120gb hd, Mac OS 8.1 and 9.2.2 installed, Ati Radeon 7000 32mb Mac edition). I use it for retro gaming. - This card is for sata I speed only? - What is the maximum speed that I can have with an ssd for this computer? - Does it have big difference on speed comparatively to ide hd? - In numbers, what (indicatively) speed may i have? - Can i boot from the ssd? - Generally is it worth having an ssd on this computer? thanks -

Has anyone tried this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Port-SATA-PCI-Controller-Card-Apple-Macintosh-PowerMac-G3-G4-G5-SSD-OSX-OS-9-/254669346388?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 -
Thank you for the info. I have the Roland SC88 manual and it has the same computer cable wiring diagram. It seems that a serial cable is suitable for the connection but i am not totally sure. I have an extra cable and i will try to test it. If it's possible, i want to connect the SC88 with my Powermac G3 Minitower without using a midi interface device like the Macman Midi.

i would like to ask if the RSC-15APL cable is the apple serial cable that fits into the modem or printer port.

Thank you. I am not a musician. I use the midi devices only for gaming because I've always technically loved the music and sound more than the graphics.
