Who on here has the most complete Vintage 68k Mac Collection

uniserver

68LC040
Does anyone have every 68k model ever made by apple?

(only on 68kmla members)

Then, how much of that is new in box? :)

Then we we should make a post, And get some pictures and a couple paragraphs from the winner, and #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #8 #9 #10 runners up.

Maybe can be judged by (Cory, Bunsen, Trash80)

Wouldn't be me, but I do seem to have a few... :-) I do have the box for my Mac II, tho. Along with the boxes for the Personal LaserWriter NT, the 12" monochrome monitor, and the Color Pivot LE...

Sounds like a great idea! :approve: How about doing divisions as well, like 12M-Sunfish Class racing?

Do we include the PowerBooks a/o have a different category for PBs, desktop/towers and all Macs combined?

68000, 68020, 68030 & 68040 divisions?

I'm guessing it'll wind up being mcdermd or one of the comrades from France, I don't recall his handle offhand.

Heck, after all the collecting I've done in the class, I haven't even got a complete 230 and never did have a Duo 210. :-/

(The winner) Someone that has the Complete 68k line up:

If its got a 68k CPU in it and it was made by apple, desktop or laptop.

nib or used, not counting accessories or matching keyboards + mouse, Heck not even counting working, wouldn't discount the collection for

a capjob or bad HD.

2# 3# #4 ETC then it goes to how many complete classes, well my collection is not complete but i have every 68000 and 68020 ever made, that is still something noteworthy!

It would be interesting to just have a list of what constitutes "complete". It seems like there are a lot of region/channel specific variants, along with changes made during the production of a given model. The two different Mac II ROM variants, the 3 different Plus ROM variants, beige vs. platinum, 512KE's with Plus' PRAM, 128k's with different floppy drives, 128k/512k has 2 ROM variants, LC II's with different ROMs, etc.

Especially as time goes by and people are mixing and matching machines, just determining what was a shipping configuration is getting increasingly difficult.

What the heck is/was a shipping config? Who cares? If it's close, it's good enough. Just having all the different cases/model versions is unthinkable.

I've only ever had the SE/Radius 16, Quadra 630, Digital Audio and the PowerBook 100 bought as new. The 6360 workhorse was a fefurb and all the rest were used a/o abused, many were stripped or DOA.

Who cares? says the one complaining of LEM inaccuracy and everymac ambiguity when just trying to compile a list of LCDs for two models of PowerBook!

HEH! Good one, Sancho! That's just for hacking purposes though and someone else's proposed FrankenBook hack at that!

Though I'm sorely tempted to get the interface figured out for the Duo TrackBall Hack for my onetime DOA 190cs. I have a spare 5300c, so if the Spherically Correct Pointing Device Upgrade starts to workin' in the 190, that poor lil' PPC sucker is t-o-a-s-t-! [}:)] ]'>

Now I kinda I wish that I'd snagged one of those full 68040 CPUs when the gang was buying them. :-/

No, probably not. Most of the easy stuff is done, I think. But for instance, I don't have any ED compacts. I dont have an Apple II, a 64k Apple /// or an Apple IIc+. I don't have a CCII and I only have three of the Mac II series (and only one is a big-box II). No Mac TV. The Spindler years are a mess and I dont think anyone truly knows if they actually have every Performa model or not.

So if you're getting down to the little variations, then no, I'm not even close to having a complete class.

Don't know if I would have the most (actually, guarantee it), but surely I would be in the top 10?

Second place is the first loser, as they say!
