Usb to SCSI converter cable

Found this morning, was just 1€ boxed including soft :



Apparently wasn't used a lot, will be useful to connect SCSI devices to USB only computers (including laptops)



Should be too late for me, but who get a free Imac ??

Oh man, I remember these! NewerTech made one too. Just keep in mind, a lot of people complained about these back in the day, as they were only USB 1.1 (USB 2.0 hadn't shown up yet), and were a tad slow and unreliable. Still, nice score.

tested this afternoon, working fine with a hard disk, the syquest drive wasn't detected...still have to make some tests.

Nice to see a SCSI device mounting happily the Ibook Clamshell:





The SCSI id was properly detected too:



Even SCSI Probe was able to catch the drive:



Only drawback, the disk should be unmounted i guess, as the Ibook wasn't happy when trying to shut down...no big deal.

Well for 1 €...i can't complain, i have seen those sold for a 100 $ in several places... today.

I had something like that with my first iMac. I also remember just how slow it was.

I scored one of those recently as well, an Addtronics one - has a weird connector on the end though I need to find an adapter for. Does yours need drivers under OS 9/X?

The weird connector is probably the HD 50, i was lucky to get the DB25 one.

Just tested with the clam (Mac OS 9) and the driver was required (but was in the box anyway)

Won't be used a lot, but don't feel too slow, just average.

From what I understand, they won't work with OS X. At least, not without some serious fiddling with recompiling Linux drivers and other things.

I've been vaguely hunting for one of those to analyze (though I prooooobably oughta buy a logic analyzer first) and, like you, I've only seen them around the US$100 mark, give or take.
