As an owner of a Perfection that can use a frame, I find this fascinating. I wonder how much logic they carried over from the FilmScan to the Perfection? I do know the software for the Perfection allows creation of randomly sized and placed frames.

There is a settings for an offset in the frame scanning as well as size so than you can scan a "sub-frame", I don't know if it's the same thing for the Perfection ?

I think I recall a similar thing. Most likely, since the base logic is the same, and they both use SANE, the only difference is that the Perfection uses USB instead of SCSI, but the protocol is unchanged.
