Turning off 512k Mac

My 512k is running system 1.1 so it doesn't have any shut off options in the software. Does it do damage to the computer over time just turning it off with the switch on the back?

Provided that you haven't left files any open or any programs running (i.e. you're in the Finder) then there's no problem with doing that. And remember to eject the floppy before turning it off because it won't eject automatically.
