Everyone always complains about having to use Apple's dongles and adapters.  I decided to make the most convoluted one I could, and see if the iPod Photo could actually use it.

Where does the power for the far end USB to ethernet adapter come from?

Unless those are just passive USB over CAT5/6 cable adapters this is not going to work I’d say.
