Thank you for that! This is a good explanation for what otherwise was a mystery. Now...why do some have it and others not...especially when there is a space for it on the ones that don't have the battery.

My guess would be that it was added in a later hardware revision, perhaps the single battery wasn’t performing well enough.

The interesting thing is that it isn't touched on in the repair manual either.
