Should I splurge?

So I've spotted a Macintosh Plus for sale in Canada. It comes with no mouse and keyboard and is for parts or repair. But I thought it would make a fun project trying to repair one of these things. Now, the main thing I'm concerned about is the mouse and keyboard. I see them go for 50 dollars for the mouse and sometimes even more for the keyboard on ebay. Is there some sort of other option to getting a keyboard on this thing?

Would this be worth it or should I wait for something like an SE or Classic?

I'd say go for it if the price does not go too high. I've got a Mac Plus and it's one of my favorite machines.

The mice and keyboard are somewhat hard to find, but you might eventually find one. You might even see if there is a forum member who could sell you one.

Looks like it's in great shape, just be careful, you get one and and then another. All of a sudden there's a flash mob of the critters getting under foot.

You should be able to come across a keyboard pretty cheap, eventually.  I have a few more of these than I wanted, and a few less of the keyboards, than I need, to go with them.  I would maybe ask the seller if the battery compartment is clean?  The rest of the machine is nice cosmetically, but it is odd that the front cover is a different color from the body bucket (see side picture with the apple).

If it's a machine that you want, get it. The price is very reasonable, I think. You'll probably need/want to get a second one for parts anyway.

Yep. Confirmed. My bedroom's full of compacts to the point I have trouble getting around without tripping on one.  |)

And I just added a new member, a Plus ED (I was on holiday in Holland and I decided to bring back a souvenir  ). It was advertised as "spares" too and after I cleaned it (it was the dirtiest Mac I ever got), it didn't work (vertical line on the screen, after some testing I noticed that resistor R1 on the analog board is shot, will replace it once I get the replacement part).

I got it with a keyboard and mouse for 50€.

IMO price doesn't matter that much, if you really want that Plus, go for it. There's so much items I really wanted but never got because I was either too late or didn't bid high enough.

I just hope you have a Floppy EMU or a Mac with a 1.44meg floppy drive to go with it. Otherwise you won't be able to use it that much.
