Rev-A ROM SIMM - Corrosion on leads

Just thought I'd give a heads up for anyone with a Rev-A ROM SIMM, the original 2MB red one with the cool red-LED Jolly Roger on it.

Might just be where I live (I'm in California) but the leads on my original red ROM SIMM had corroded. I thought maybe it was from wear and tare, but my unused one showed the same symptoms.

I was having issues with my IIci getting death chimes more and more frequently until it refused to boot.  Removing my ROM SIMM fixed it.

I looked at the SIMM and the leads were pitted, with a little bit of black corrosion.

When I put it in my programmer to back up my custom made ROM, it kept copying it in a corrupted manner (though the ROM would check out fine with the diagnostic.)

Long story short, I retinned the leads on the SIMM and it works now.  Fortunately DougG3 still had a copy of my custom ROM and I was able to copy it back over.

Anyway, might be something to look out for on the older SIMM.
