Right on! I like to keep my peripherals period-correct to the system. I will say all those Brits who keep showing off their Kensington Turbo Mice will eventually make me get one for the IIfx!
Haha, I went overboard with those turbo mice. I have three of the 5.0, three of the 4.0, and one of the 3.0s.
The problem with them is... I keep forgetting and turning it upside down.
That's a terrible affliction that only has one cure...send the Turbo Mouse to me!
I told it too, but it doesn't seem to be listening to me.
I just found out about this thread. I seriously envy you. I'm aspired to rescue stuff again, but every opportunity I have doesn't seem to work out. ;_;
Sometimes it's just a case of coming back to things. If I'm struggling with a machine I put it to one side and come back to it when I have new ideas, or even skills
Any failed repair is just more project opertunities. Besides, working on them is the fun bit. It's always harder to work out what to do after they're finished!

Another good choice for a period correct setup... M1298 and M0116, with the correct A9M0331 mouse.

Many many thanks to @chiptripper for his repair of the battery bomb-damaged 4MB RAM sticks that came with my IIfx! She's now zipping along with a healthy 20MB's
I think it's so cool how this machine has become a little 68kMLA group restoration project. Next I need to replace the floppy drive cogs with 3D printed ones from @Torbar She's come a long way since @ilitch64 did the logic board resto!

Very impressive work! I am glad you got it running and liberated another computer. I haven't had much of a chance to work on these machines too much but have you replaced all 20 capacitors? I would reccomend that as I have not had too much luck with the EL capacitors of this era. I have had more luck with the axial caps though, they seem to hold up better. I would however reccomend getting injection molded drive gears, and if you do have a large collection or plan to expand, what I did was buy 10- or even 50-pack of the gears for a pretty good price online. I forget where I got the listing, but these gears run and sound much smoother, although some good resin printed gears might be good too. Fantastic that this was a joint effort, It's fascinating to see. I would have loved to be part of the effort, let me know if you need any soldering services I find SMD soldering pretty theraputic.
