Reinstall system Performa 6400

Sinclair

6502
I've got a Performa 6400 (here Power Macintosh 6400) and would like to reinstall the OS on a larger HDD but I don't have the CD instalation

Is it possible to create an installation CD System 7.5.3 or any other for my machine from a PC?

Unfortunately, I do not have any other Apple computer with CD burner :(

Thank you.

The 6400 has an expansion bay. I dont recall if its SCSI or IDE but I think its IDE. Install one drive there then copy the system over from the older one.

I agree, just have to copy the whole system from one HD to another, but don't use a Windows PC, it  won't work.

Bad news, the hard disk on which I installed the OS has irreversibly stopped working :(

I have no other alternative to install an operating system in a new hard disk.

If it is not possible to generate an installation CD via PC, I think I can make it through diskettes. With my PC, Basilisk II and HFVExplorer I have already done.

The problem is finding the images of installation diskettes that work in my machine. Apple seems no longer supports for it.

The question now is where now I can find this software.

Thank you.

Is there no other way to find you? a FTP, for example.

Anyway I would like a Spanish version of the system (E1).

I think it's not illegal that I'm asking but if so, let me know, please.

Thank you.

7.5.3 is a freely distributable version, I think (and the last one).  You can download it and the 7.5.5 updater from Apple still, if you can find the page.

I have had good luck downloading System 7 ISOs from Macintosh Garden:

http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macintosh-os-755

and then burning with this utility:

http://www.ntfs.com/iso-burning.htm

YMMV, but that has worked for me.  I burned the images on a Windows 7 PC with LG DVD-RW drives and I got bootable Macintosh CDs.  Burn them at the slowest speed you can.

If you feel like getting frisky, this ISO is the mother of all restore CDs.  I used it to re-install System 7.5.3 on my LC550 from scratch:

Thank you, although I recorded those albums winless I will try the recording softwar that you say.

I've got that the Mac work thanks to a MacOS 9 but I like to have the original OS.

On the other hand, I would like to connect the Mac to my PC network. I have already set the ethernet card ... what file sharing software can I use?
I would like communication in both PC-Mac and Mac-PC senses, in MacOS 9.

Thanks again.

One question about the topic of file sharing.

Is there a free alternative to Dave?

If I have to open a new thread on this new issue me know, please.
