Quake RAVE or GLQuake will freeze a PowerMac 6500 if a dedicated graphics card is used

Does anyone have any further ideas for trying to diagnose this? I would be excited to try more.

FYI Quake 3 runs very fast on a Raspberry Pi 3 - it’s an optional install on RetroPi

I've never gotten an ATI card of any kind to work with a 6500 board. I've tried to play with system extensions to see if I could trick it into working, buy it never did. I settled with a Voodoo2, and use the 2D accelleration of the on-board RageII with the 3D of the voodoo. I do use a G3 accelerator also, but I've never gotten ATI cards to work with or without the G3 in it.
