Evening all,
I have an battery cancer Quadra 700 here, it wasn't that bad and it was still fresh when I obtained it - it'll power on but has death chime. I found loose connection/corroded one of the RAM chips and repaired/added solder on it, it no longer powers up/no chime etc.
So I am thinking about removing all RAM chips off the board, and use donor RAM chips from memory stick which I have found that matches original ones (its 16x 512k = 8mb on that stick and pull off 8x 512k=4mb).
Came to think about it - since Quadra 700 has 8x 512k chips = 4mb.
Could I replace it and place in 8mb instead of 4mb and hope use 128mb and would show 136mb in total? (or it'll read only 132mb as per factory)
Just a theory - if those will work or not.
Cheers
