PowerBook Duo 2300c

A fellow MLAer was kind enough to give me a Duo 2300c, the one PowerBook that I've lusted after since I got into older Macs! UPS managed to beat the snot out of it, and I've spent most of this weekend with it pieces around my room fixing things, but it now works wonderfully (except that the battery slider cover was smashed to bits and is now covered in tape). It's an awesome little lappy, and will me replacing the 540c in my schoolbag! I love my 540c, but it's just so freaking heavy and bulky. This 2300c is, well, not :)

100MHz PPC 603e

40 megs RAM

10 gig HDD

Mac OS 8.1

On that note, anybody got a spare battery slider cover thing? PM me if ya do :)

Here's a picture of the little bugger. Yes, it says 280c, but I preferred the trackball so I had that top put on :)

well, sorry about the UPS problems. They have always treated my stuff great. I have learned not use FedEx.

Looks like a nice machine though!

Is that OS 9 with a theme? I ask because the menu bar has this Windows 98 Rain theme color to it.
Nope, just standard OS 8.1 and crappy lighting in my room :p

To everyone else: Yes, it's a very nice machine and I already love it quite a bit :)

File a UPS claim.

The laptop was probably packaged not well enough. You really need to use vacuum chambers with anti gravity levitation platforms and shock absorbers encased in lead to protect anything these days.

Nice conquest! The 2300cs are brilliant little machines and so small given their power. Mine also has the earlier Duo top case with a trackball but it was like that when I got it. There's no name printed on it at all!

My iBook came sitting on a 2 and a half inch block on styrofoam and bubble wrap all around it, and it was fine via FedEx, despite showing up in a work van with a piece of paper say its FedEx Home Delivery.
