Powerbook 145b LCD nightmare

Hi everyone,

I ran a giant blob of solder across the chip labeled scsci that was corroded, sucked up the solder and now the hdd spins, although the mouse is the only thing that shows, not even a floppy icon. I decided to do the screen recap before I find a place to wash the board but I snapped the ribbon cable when trying to get the panel out of the case. I also opened it to get to the caps and a layer separated, should it be ok based on the photo?

Check the continuity of the pins on the (assume SCSI controller) chip, you may have lifted some pads.  The LCD should be OK once clipped back together, just make sure no dust has collected on the inside layer.

Good to know, I will probably have to get a new chassis including the rear plastic holding the LCD panel assembly as plastic exploded everywhere and the housing crumbled when I removed it. Also going to get a new LCD ribbon cable. All in good time.

problem, most of those casings are bad by now, nothing efficient has been found to glue those posts back.

I've recently had amazing results with Loctite precision super glue. Its a watery glue in a vial, it's ability to hold weight and super fine properties and grab time for me have fixed numerous little issues in my collection. I have not used it on the display housings yet, but its first in line after fixing the parcel tray holder in my car which holds about 5 pounds.
