Plus ROM duplication

Hi,

Sadly since Steve of Big Mess o Wires is not going to restock Mac Rominator, I've been wondering about my options. I have two Mac Pluses, one of them is without ROMs.

Is there any way I can copy existing ROM chips to file and give it to local electronic shop so they can burn some EEPROMs for me? Last time I showed them the Plus motherboard they told be they wouldnt be able to read the ROM chips using standard Willem programmer. I have an ancient "Copy ROM" program, but it saves to a single .ROM file. IS there any way you can extract Hi and Lo roms from that single file? Any help would be appreciated.

The ROMs in the Plus should be replaceable using standard 27C512.

Not sure what kind of programmer your electronics shop uses but every cheap chinese programmer should be able to program those. They also should be able to directly read the chips with the programmer in 27C512 mode.

You should be able to split up your ROM dump using srec_cat on a linux/unix/OSX system.

The algorithm is that you read the .ROM file 4 bytes at a time. Within each 4 bytes, put the 2 high bytes in the Hi file, and the 2 low bytes in the Lo file. The Motorola 68000 is big-endian.

It's like the teeth of a zipper coming together and pulling apart.

Darnit. I should have gotten one while they were still around.

I wanted to take the .Sony driver from the SE FDHD and move it over to the Plus, and then swapping in the SWIM to get FDHD support on the Plus.

I just got a PM from Steve saying he's going to do one last batch of rominator v1s, the parts are ordered and they should be on sale in about a month.
