Performa 6300CD startup by remote?

I saw several Youtube videos of people starting up my Performa model by a tv or universal remote. I checked my remotes and none list "Apple" as a TV or VCR brand. Is there some other brand that other people have selected that works with the Performa's IR port?

I have a remote for my TAM that allows me to turn it on with the remote. I've also read that some Performas had the same remote, so this is a standard, from the factory deal. If your computer came with a remote from Apple, this should work.

It's a sony signal. Try the sony signals. one of them should do it. I used to use a Sony VCR Remote with my PM 5400 when I had it

Got it to work! My DirecTV remote refused to cooperate but my Sony DVD player worked on the first try! Thanks for the tip! :lc:

Just about every remote in my house will power up a 5xxx/6xxx machine. Also, other buttons may have unlisted functions. See here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=8851
