Not computer related at all, but....

I had put up a wanted ad on freecycle about two months ago stating that i was looking for darkroom equipment.

I got a reply back a couple days later stating that someone had some darkroom stuff for me, I went and got that, it was a few trays and a couple stainless steel film reels and some tongs. also was a paper safe with a ton of paper in it.

that was pretty sweet! but then a few days ago I got an email that said that they had darkroom equipment for me.

So I called the person and they told me that someone had given it to them a couple years back and that they hadnt used it in a while. He told me he'd deliver it because he wanted to get it out of his house. All of this happened while I was on vacation, So I had to have my mom take care of it on the receiving end.

I got home a couple days later to four HUGE boxes in our living room.

I got it all!

an Omega Super Chromega C-700 Enlarger

a Lucky enlarger with baseboard.

Beseler Colour Proccessing tubes.

Tongs

Graduated cylinders

trays

paper

The whole bit.

I'm beginning to really enjoy this freecycle thing.

Now if i could find some old macs!

Blake

Wow, really sweet! I've got an old Beseler enlarger and trays and such - just no good place to make some prints. What cameras do you like to shoot with? If you've got some photos on flickr (or elsewhere) you should link them. It's always fun to run into a film user!

Nice score, and for free!

Hmmm, thought I was watching this topic for replies.

Yeah, I've been into film photography for several years now. I don't have the luxury of printing from my negatives in house like you do though! I develop my own B&W and hand off my slide film to be processed.

I go Canon as well - my digital camera is an older (now) Digital Rebel XT. My signature has a link to my photo page on flickr. I like to use medium format mostly, Hasselblad and Rolleiflex.

Congrats again on the gear! Nice stuff.

EDIT: I just checked your link, great work! I'll spend some time over there checking out your stuff.

Hey man, I'd take having a Hassie or a Rollei over having a darkroom, They're great cameras, and i love the square format!

I just wish i could find a good quality medium format camera for cheap. (not a holga though)

you have a gorgeous gallery! Keep up the great work!

Medium format's not THAT expensive anymore. I'd rather have a Hasselblad or Rolleiflex myself (or a Mamiya or Bronica for that matter) but if you got less than $300 to spend on a complete starter outfit, you could buy a Kiev 60 from Mikhail Fourman:

He's been selling the things for years. I bought one from him awhile back and it was okay for a Kiev. Out of the box, "new" Kiev cameras can look kind of crappy and really benefit from some detailing. Tough, heavy, a bit crude, but try getting a 30mm full frame fisheye lens from Carl Zeiss for $275! OTOH, I got my first Hassy outfit for $500, and I'd say the extra $$ was worth it.

And there's always the Rolleiflex and Rolleicord, Minolta, Mamiya, Yashica and Seagull twin lens reflex cameras. You can probably get one of the less-collectable Rolleiflex variants, with say a f/3.5 Schneider Xenar lens, for pretty cheap. Beautifully made too. Some of the postwar Rollei and prewar Zeiss Contax cameras are among the most beautifully made that I have ever seen.
