No Quadra 950 for me

:(

Just lost not one but two auctions for the vaunted tower. Any of you bums a proud new owner?

Speaking seriously tho', does anyone know / surmise the production/sales figures for the Quadra 950 or any individual Apple machines? Besides the "Only 12,000 20th Anniversaries evar".

I think I paid $40 for mine a few years back. If I had not been in such a huff when I left these forums last year, I would have kept the old 950. But I tossed it to the trash. Along with my 7300, 7200, LC III, and LC. I now have only two Macs: Q700 and Beige G3. Once those two die, I'm finished with the Mac world.

Actually had a dream about my 950 recently. Don't know if I was missing it or just fitting pieces together in my mind. I think I was just fitting pieces together in my mind. [:D] ]'>

High end Quadras are getting expensive. It's because of all the ebay store sellers who put huge BIN's on them so everyone thinks they can get those prices even though the guys with the high priced listings may take years to sell one.

The only Quadra i'd pay for would be an 840AV of course. I've skipped about 6 or free 950's. They are huge, heavy and don't sell all that well.

I'd really love a mint 660AV though (yes I know it's a centris).

I have 5 950's and only paid for 2 of them. My 1st Mac ever was a 950 purchased in 2000 for $75 or so shipped. I purchased a cool looking 950 that was a cactus RIP station (lots of ram, dsp card, scsi card) for $30 ish years ago. It does seem like they command more money today (and shipping is much more expensive). I was looking at the pair of 950's on ebay recently, one went for $36 not sure what the other went for. If you have decent RAM and show decent pictures they can hit $75+. It could just be the dollar is worth less these days and the price is constant, who knows. Mostly the supply on ebay is just lower for vintage macs in general.

I dunno - I don't see the point of spending my time dealing with eBay unless I stand to make hundreds or thousands of dollars on an item. Which I'm not going to do on a 68K machine.

So I'd much rather just send my stuff to people like you guys for the price of shipping or a little more. At least that way I know it's going somewhere that'll be appreciated. This is a hobby - I'm not here to make money.

Why did you just throw them away? Why the bitterness towards the Mac world?
