After helping out at the local flea market mall, I looked through the stacks of computers and found the following for $15 total:

ATX case with dead motherboard, working 250W power supply, floppy with broken face, working CD-ROM drive. Perfect for some parts I have with no case.

PowerMac 8100/110, 80MB RAM, 8GB hard disk, Sonnet Crescendo G3/400 1MB Cache [] ]'>, 2x CD-ROM drive. The cover is in bad shape and is missing the CD-ROM cover. Needs a battery. Also has Photoshop 5.5, Illustrator 8, Quark Express 4, Strata StudioPro v2.0 installed.

Sorry - just finished editing my post. The PDS slot has the Sonnet G3/400 card in it. So far with a NuBus SuperMac card it appears to run OK except for the battery and 1-bit color depth. I'm working on getting the drivers for the video card now.

Good News:

The drivers are installed for the card and it finally has something besides black/white.

Bad News:

While it will let me choose something besides 640x480, it assumes the monitor is 640x480 and treats it as a window to the resolution specified. The monitor is an Acer AL1717 17" LCD panel with a 1280x1024 resolution. The Mac-VGA adapter has no switches on it.

I found in my stash a ViewSonic Mac-VGA adapter with switches. Once it was set to 1024x768, the video card set it to a slightly larger resolution. It's tiny but it's a lot better than 640x480.

Now to increase the RAM. Testing it in the 8100 case is a real pain.

I love the 8100 case great design, except the hard drive area. and access to ram. But PCI slots are easy to access!
