Hi all, wanted to put this out there now for anyone to try. This is a Minecraft server based on BareIron for Open Transport/MacTCP compatible Macintoshes:

Edit: GH account was suspended for some reason? Looking into it...
I tested it on a 68040 40MHz with good single player performance, and degraded but playable two player performance. Please look at the readme for information. Here is some general information:

I tested it on a 68040 40MHz with good single player performance, and degraded but playable two player performance. Please look at the readme for information. Here is some general information:
- Tested on system 8.1, but should work all the way back to system 6 with MacTCP?
- Give the server as much RAM as you can by setting the cache in the menu. Everything is saved to preferences for future runs. I also recommend a view distance of 2.
- I'm guessing you won't get anything of interest on original 68000s, but 68030s likely have promise. Looking forward to hearing about those test cases.
- Use Open Transport if possible, with the most updated ethernet drivers and ensure there are no conflicts with older drivers. I've seen this can drop data transfer rates by 100 kB/s.
- Minecraft Vanilla client 1.21.8 is required. No client side config is required, just connect to your Mac's IP!
- Features are missing that are present from modern Minecraft. The original project page is a good place to start to understand the tradeoffs that are required to get a server to generate chunks without Perlin noise.
- Some features can be added back in, like beds, that I will do over time. The GitHub page itself is the best place to look for future updates.
