Mac SE/30 + Bolle Adaptor and 040 card Issues

Hello All,
I'm struggling a bit chasing an issue with the above combination. What I'm finding is when the 040 is enabled via the control panel, the video seems to go wonky horizontally. I'm getting a sort of doubling of lines. I'm wondering if anyone's seen anything like this before.

I've tried the Bolle Adaptor and Carera 040 on a second mac with base ROM and 8MB ram to rule that out of the equation.

Any suggestions? I'm wondering if it's maybe a pin lift on a line back to the logic board video circuit or a timing issue? Do these rely on a specific logic board version to work perhaps? I've messaged Bolle but wanted to see if the wider community had found anything similar.

Its currently in a system with a rominator and 7.5.3 with the resedit.

Video follows:

Weird issue, Can you try another OS, say 7.1?

I have Bolle and carrera also, but runs without those issues in my machines. But I almost exclusively run 7.1 on them.

Did you patch the OS also? Maybe you can try this image:

No, but I’ve seen the following issue (see pic) with the same setup/combination as you have. Note that the machine was very unstable and usually crashed within a minute. Is yours unstable too, or does it run fine apart from the graphical issues?

By base ROM I assume you mean stock ROM?

The issue looks like a typical video addressing issue. The accelerator is interfering with that.

No, should work on any. Which board do you have - Apple or Reloaded (new build)?

One thing that comes to mind is the bodge wire for the video circuitry that has caused issues before, in case that’s relevant to you. Some very early Apple boards, as well as Reloaded boards Rev. 3 and below, need this applied.

It's strange isn't it.. Proven hardware, and both SE/30's work perfectly. I did try 7.1 previously but to no avail.

OS is patched but I'll certainly try that image.

Yes, stock rom in one machine with MODE32 and the os patch and I tried with the rominator II in the other.

The system runs perfectly otherwise. Passes benchmarks, Switching Carrera modes can sometimes crash it but only occasionally and I guess with what's going on inside, it's not unlikely.

It's a standard apple SE/30 board.

I've tried one old revision with a gold top chip and one newer version. Both recapped. The gold top doesn't have the bodge wire but in the newer system it's in now, it's irrelevant.

Ok it's sorted. It was a pin lift on one of the GAL chips on the adaptor board. Quick hit with some solder and it's working perfectly.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. All valid but in this case it was a hardware issue.
