Well, this came home with me. I couldn’t help it. I am so rebuilding a collection. Haven’t hooked it up or turned it on yet. I guess we’ll see. Before I do I will open it up and check the battery at at least.

That that battery is not pretty and is of the awful maxell type. But it doesn’t look too exploded and they’re only seems to be damaged right there at the battery. Otherwise, it just looks dirty in there.
Yes, I plan on it. One of the reasons I got it was because I am going to improve my soldering skills with a class at the local electronics recycler/STEM education program, and this will serve as an easier model to learn to do this on, and also will be less critical than doing it on my more valued SE/30 for example

Another option is a Centris or Quadra 650 logic board...
You mean to replace the board with in this one?
Judging from the dark stains under the caps and the green corrosion on some of the ICs, that logic board's going to need a thorough bath to neutralize it, not just a brief wiping down. Hopefully you've also got some way to drive out any lingering electrolyte from under the affected chips, unless you plan on carefully heating/lifting them for individual cleaning and reflow.
I know most people here who have the space for them will swear by ultrasonic cleaners, for achieving both of these things. You'll know you've fully succeeded once nothing smells like fish anymore, during recapping.

Thank you for that. I do have an ultrasonic cleaner for vinyl records, but not sure that’s going to work. And I did figure this was going to take some serious work. I was already figuring on recapping it. I’m a look into replacing chips that are available. Still rather than trying to reuse those that have been damaged. But I will look into that more also. Maybe you have some thoughts on that.
Anyway, it will be fun to fiddle with and learn on anyway. I’ll just take my time with it.

I have a battery bombed IIvx I snagged to put a Quadra 650 motherboard into. Found the Quadra board at a recycler ages ago and the IIvx was offered for shipping because it was toast (back in 2015). Time flies.
I would try to save it since the IIvx isn't exactly that common and that board doesn't look as bad as most bombed units. Depends on your skills and time, I guess. You also have the original caddy loader CDROM drive and bezel which is nice, mine came with a blank cover which I removed it to install a Q650 tray loading CDROM.

Yep. Chassis and case is the same.
The IIvx, if the board is functional, might be worth keeping intact. It's possible the holder can be salvaged and a CR14250 can be used, preventing the disaster from occuring again, but without needing an adapter.
You could put the Turbo 601 that @willmurray461 is selling into it. That's what I wound up doing on the IIvx I owned. Either ran at 32MHz as stock, or 100MHz when the PPC chip was active.

Ok, after initial opening, and pulling the battery, and hearing some good ideas here, going to look into this a while and figure out what to do with it eventually. A large part of my reasoning was using it to learn to recap and repair a board decently, and I don't have time to attend a class for a couple months. So back up on the shelf for now. Will focus more on a couple of the other machines as I learn more. The G3 PowerMac Beige and the SE/30 are working well and it is more about upgrades than repair, other than replacing the PSU on the SE/30. And the G3 B/W can maybe be brought back to life sooner just to verify it works. It is freezing upon start up in 9.2 and I have not done any of the trouble shooting steps yet. And the G4 Quicksilver is up and running. I just need to replace the battery, and now have a line on that. Thanks, @volvo242gt . And thanks all for the advice and ideas. Will return to this later.
