Well, this came home with me. I couldn’t help it. I am so rebuilding a collection. Haven’t hooked it up or turned it on yet. I guess we’ll see. Before I do I will open it up and check the battery at at least.

That that battery is not pretty and is of the awful maxell type. But it doesn’t look too exploded and they’re only seems to be damaged right there at the battery. Otherwise, it just looks dirty in there.
Yes, I plan on it. One of the reasons I got it was because I am going to improve my soldering skills with a class at the local electronics recycler/STEM education program, and this will serve as an easier model to learn to do this on, and also will be less critical than doing it on my more valued SE/30 for example

Another option is a Centris or Quadra 650 logic board...
You mean to replace the board with in this one?
Judging from the dark stains under the caps and the green corrosion on some of the ICs, that logic board's going to need a thorough bath to neutralize it, not just a brief wiping down. Hopefully you've also got some way to drive out any lingering electrolyte from under the affected chips, unless you plan on carefully heating/lifting them for individual cleaning and reflow.
I know most people here who have the space for them will swear by ultrasonic cleaners, for achieving both of these things. You'll know you've fully succeeded once nothing smells like fish anymore, during recapping.

Thank you for that. I do have an ultrasonic cleaner for vinyl records, but not sure that’s going to work. And I did figure this was going to take some serious work. I was already figuring on recapping it. I’m a look into replacing chips that are available. Still rather than trying to reuse those that have been damaged. But I will look into that more also. Maybe you have some thoughts on that.
Anyway, it will be fun to fiddle with and learn on anyway. I’ll just take my time with it.
