Hmmmm.... I'm gonna have to say they are about equal. The IIfx just flies.... But the Performa was good too.

A IIfx with 6.0.8 is equal to a 700 with 7.0.1, and the Performa with 7.1.2. Two of the three were top of the line, and all performed equal in terms of speed.

Any other inputs?

7.1 is what I run on a IIfx (32MB RAM) and it is speedy.

40MHz is a noticeable speed bump from 33MHz (on this Performa, now Quadra). It really is fast.

It makes a good System 7 machine. The IIfx runs System 6, and runs it well too.

My thoughts are, for System 7 you want a Quadra, and for System 6 you want a IIfx, or an accelerated IIsi/IIci. On the 16MHz Mac II machines, System 6 is no slouch though, but the IIfx is just something! 

Regarding high end, the Performa 638CD was probably middle of the range of Apple's line up at the time. 33MHz 040 from the factory is nothing to mess with in terms of performance.

Yup. Agree. Theres just that look thought to the Quadra and the IIfx! The box look! I love it.

Picked up another IIfx, with ANOTHER maxell in it! Hasn't gone off

Also a nice G3 tower with a DVD RW CD RW drive!

Got an Apple mouse pad too, also a modem, CD 600e, centronics cable, black terminator thingy that another cable plugs into, manuals, power cords for the monitors (Did not take them, too big, so I've got the double sided monitor cables if anyone needs them), and sealed Photoshop 7.0.

Finally, a Morrow MD-2 terminal and computer!!!

Took a closer look at everything...

The G3 (as you may have seen by now) had an 800MHz G4 sonnet zif.

The CD 600 had something strange attached to it...

A BLACK IIFX TERMINATOR! lol, that was the "weird black terminator thingy". Used to the nub type ones without pass through.

The apple extended keyboard I got does not work with my G3... gonna have to fix it.

It needs a recap (Works great but wont shut off automatically), but if you do want it, ill consider any offer thats above what I paid!

$240 I think it was total for it. Its got new batteries too, and a lubed drive. I currently have an SCSI2SD installed, but can sell it with it for more. Dont really know what Im asking... PM me?

I checked both of my IIfx units. The one with OS 7.6.1 shuts down, the one with OS 7.1 gives me the "you can power off the machine now" message.

Replaced 2 caps and now the unit with OS 7.1 shuts down correctly.

Got my portable! Has a dark line across the screen and the trackball doesn't work . It was working before it was shipped so the caps must have just got to it. Sending it to techknight.

This ones got a card in the PDS slot... any ideas on what it could be?
