iCab does not download files correctly

Okay so i got my Macintosh Performa 450 (LC III) with a PDS Ethernet card succesfully on the net!

it doesn't really want to work with the internet pass through option on my windows desktop because of it complaining about them using the same ip... weird.

but anyhow:

Downloaded and installed iCab version 2.9.9 and it works great! A lot faster than i ever expected from a 1993 Macintosh...

problem is: when i download a file (tested with .sit or .bin files), the download manager opens, it starts to download the file until it completes.

then the file just sits there on the desktop as some kind of 'iCab' file?

now WHAT do i do wrong :p ? This is the first mac i even got on the internet so i'm very sorry if this is a simple stupidity form my side.

suggestions anyone?

drag it onto the stuffit expander icon, or go into stuffit's settings and tell it to associate itself with those file types.

*Edit

and also do not show off your pirated stuff on this forum, I guess.

Thanks for the help.

I downloaded it with the assumption of it being freeware from system 7 today. If this is not the case i will be more cautious.

(I already was planning on buying the disks anyway so that solves one problem.)

I just opened them up with stuffit expander but it just sits there for a while and closes stuffit alltogether.

Stuffit expander 4.2 iirc, will have a look tomorrow if i find some spare time again.

yeah maybe the files are incomplete. tried a few times. maybe the site is bad?

if i try to open any of them with double clicking, it goes straight back to the download manager of iCab.

The site works fine. I just downloaded Simcity 2000 in FireFox and it downloaded fine. So the site isn't the problem.

Thanks for testing that out.

I'm going to try and download it sometime next week with the same browser and version but on a powermac 9600/200 which I know has working ethernet.

I'll keep you updated on what it does or does not.
