I want to understand - Macintosh Portable error code

plb007

Hi,

I just bought and recap (+ultrasonic cleaning, drying) a non-backlit Macintosh Portable and get an error code when starting.
I got the chime, but the a continuous beep and the sad mac's chime.
Error code are : 00000003 / 0000FF00
I tried to understand what are those code but cannot decode them.
I tried to find some explanations regarding data line and address line but still can't understand those informations posted here
Video of booting is here :

Just wondering, are you using the correct original charger that has been tested to be good AND a brand new good battery? Without those two things, you wont get very far.

Hi, I checked the original charger (I have two of them). The one I'm using is giving me 7,4V - I assume is correct.
It's a replacement battery that looks in shape. Can a bad battery cause those errors code ?
Thanks,

I'll bet this isn't the issue since portables are so problematic, but if you haven't already, try removing any RAM upgrade cards if present. It might be crashing on the RAM test.

Would bet there is at least one bad trace under one of the ram chips. I fixed such an issue with bodge wires on one of my boards and as far as I remember the error code was comparable. Try to find the broken trace with a continuity tester.

Hi, does the 8 columns (x4 rows) of memory module should be wired in parallel ? If so, I have many broken trace each occurring between the 4th and 5th column.

The upper 4 rows (B,C,D,E) are connected to data bits 0-7, while the lower 4 rows (F,G,H,J) are connected to data bits 8-15.
