G3 upgrade CPUs without heatsink?

Sonnet used the purple heatsinks. In this case it's just missing a plain heatsink, probably black.

To use this you will need a heatsink. What colour it is doesn't matter. If you have a small heatsink off an old motherboard northbridge or something you can get away with zip tying it on, a bit sketchy but don't clamp hard enough to break the die. Finding the original heatsink\clips will prove difficult.

I believe I had a G3 CPU upgrades way back in the day, that came with just a flat piece of aluminum as the heat sink, no fins. But it seemed to work, it had a pretty good surface area and it was only a G3, I think 500Mhz. But yours is definitely missing the heat sink. I suspect that that chip would fry itself if you used it like that. Hopefully the place you got it from didn't test it without the heat sink, that could be bad.
