Four 1x0 Powerbooks

Hi,

courtesy of eBay I'm soon to receive:

- Powerbook 100

- Powerbook 160

- 2 x Powerbook 150s

I've been low on 2.5" hard disks, and general 1x0 parts so this should keep me going for a while! Cost: AUD $36 for the lot.

The main drawcard is the Powerbook 100; ages ago I gave away a PB100, and I regret doing so as it was a nice size, ran System 7.1 well, and all the older B&W games.

I've never sighted a PB150 either, so perhaps they'll prove fun based on the amount of RAM installed, and at least I can throw in a small IDE hard disk to speed things up. The screens are rubbish though, aren't they?

Nice haul, indeed!

The '150 screens are certainly ungood, but that's relative to a greyscale active-matrix display. Relative to binary passive LCDs, it's perfectly fine. And it is bigger than that of a '140, say. Despite being a Road Apple, the '150 is a decent 'book. And the ability to use a cheap, capacious IDE drive is a big plus. If only RAM weren't so expensive...

One ponders screen transplant possibilities...

Was that ebay seller darexm's lot?

I may be interested in a 150 if you find two is more than needed :)

No worries Bunsen, I should be able to pass on a 150 once I've had a darn good play with it.

No it wasn't from darexm - another random seller on eBay. Incidentally, don't buy from darexm - he sold me a "Duo Dock II" which stunk and covered in smoker's tar, had the original Duo Dock lid (which doesn't fit colour Duos), and lastly it didn't work!

I emailed him a couple of times with no success at all.

I've only ever bought stuff from him pickup - he's reasonably close to me. The Duo Docks I bought from him were sold as not working, parts/repair, and other stuff I've bought has been unlikely to fail - cables, components etc
