Faster Internet!!!

Well, after having problems with Cox Communications with Internet and TV where we were getting intermittent interruptions, Cox came out and checked a few things. The Box on the pole in the ally was failing, and was causing everyone in the whole neighborhood trouble. Well, I can now tell you what our speeds were going up and down:

previous:

Up: 700Kbs, Down: 11Mbps

now:

Up: 3.5Mbps, Down: 24Mbps

They said there was a HUGE gap in the up and down transmissions, as well as a lot of noise. So they replaced the ENTIRE wiring up and down the poles, as well as to the houses, and replaced the boxes on the poles. I couldn't be any happier ^_^

NICE

I'm lucky to get 5mbps down on mediacom (mediacunts) cable

Luckily at work I have 35mbps down and 20mbps up

yeah, it's so much nicer. I frankly thought we were stuck at 70KB/s up max. But it turns out that the cable outside the house and going down the poles are like 30 years old ^_^ That's what happens when you live in an old area of town. Businesses just sort of "Forget" you in their maintnance. It's a PITA. When we had an ice-storm in '98, we were like the last in the city to get our power brought back up. That sucked. we were like 1 month without power. They got the NEWER areas up first though!!!

Meh, I am just happy to have faster upload speeds. I am getting sick of having to take about 3 hours to upload a website. Just not fair :-/

Verizon FiOS. Not sure of the rates, but I know it's quick. I bought a 52 song album on iTunes a few weeks ago and I had it all within a few minutes.

I don't really care about upload speed, the only time I use it is when I put photos up--and I hardly ever even do that.
